Data may be processed with or without the aid of electronic or otherwise automated means, encompassing all operations covered under art. 4, paragraph 1, letter a of Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30 June 2003 and necessary for the processing in question. Data will in any case be processed in observance of all precautionary measures to ensure security and confidentiality.
The Privacy Code grants the parties concerned certain rights under art. 7. In particular, parties concerned may obtain confirmation from the data controller of whether or not data concerning them exists, and may obtain intelligible transmission of such data. Concerned parties may also ask to be informed of the origin of the data, the purposes and methods by which they are processed and the procedure used if the data are processed with the aid of electronic instruments, and the identifying information of the data controller and appointed managers, and of the persons and categories of persons to whom the data may be communicated or who may come into contact with the data.
The party concerned has the right to update, correct, add to, cancel, convert into an anonymous form or block data processed in violation of law. Interested parties have the right, for legitimate reasons, to object, wholly or in part, to the processing of personal data that concerns them, even if pertinent for collection purposes, and may object without giving reason to the processing of such data in connection with the purpose of sending advertising or sales materials or for carrying out market research or commercial communication.
